Please share a project or program you are most proud of?
We can’t pick just one so here are a few highlights:
- This summer, Accenture expanded our summer internship program in Baltimore to 14 students in partnership with Baltimore Youth Works, P-Tech Baltimore, KIPP Baltimore and Cristo Rey Baltimore to provide high school and college students internships and work-learning experiences.
- Since 2017 we’ve worked side-by-side with Baltimore City Public Schools to deploy volunteers from more than 60 Baltimore small businesses, universities and nonprofits to volunteer in schools across Baltimore to expose students to computer science through Hour of Code.
- In the past year alone, 150,000 Accenture new hires were onboarded in a metaverse virtual campus, the Nth floor, for new hire orientation, immersive training and socializing.
What are your priorities for 2022?
Accenture’s purpose is to deliver on the promise of technology and human ingenuity every day – helping our clients, community and nonprofit partners. One way this comes to life is through the metaverse, the next generation of the internet that enables a user to move beyond browsing to participating in or inhabiting a persistent shared experience that spans the spectrum from our real world to the fully virtual and in between.
The metaverse is more than gaming and applies to all industries from retail and travel to health care, banking and manufacturing. Accenture research shows that at this early stage 71% of executives believe the metaverse will have a positive impact on their organization and 42% believe it will be breakthrough or transformational. To meet this need, Accenture recently announced the launch of the Accenture Metaverse Continuum business group, which combines metaverse-skilled professionals and market-leading capabilities in customer experience, digital commerce, extended reality, blockchain, digital twins, artificial intelligence and computer vision.
What have you found to be the most rewarding aspect of your relationship with the GBC and why is it important to sponsor an event?
Accenture has been a Title Sponsor of the GBC Annual Meeting for the past four years. 2022 was especially noteworthy as we reconnected in person to celebrate partnerships and accomplishments across the Greater Baltimore region.
As a global company, it is important we are investing in our local communities. Serving as a member of GBC and sponsoring events gives us the opportunity to be a part of the local business community, attend events, be up to date on what’s happening locally and remain connected to the GBC mission to support the economic growth and quality of life in the region.
